Ariel J. Solomon is a photographer and military journalist for the Utah National Guard. He has completed a BFA from Utah Valley university and has focused primarily on creating artwork that showcases the natural beauty of Utah.
He has served several tours and deployments in support of the U.S. Army in over 30 countries. His latest deployment to Europe was in support of Special Operations Command Europe where he would provide public affairs guidance to operational teams and embassies. His work had been used by congressional committees to inform their decisions and to create training materials for U.S. soldiers across the world.
In the future Ariel hopes to create a “Walden Pond” style artist retreat in Utah to help showcase the beauty and grandeur of the state’s natural beauty. Inspired by a summer spent working in Capitol Reef National Park, the artist retreat would provide a place for artists of several disciplines to mingle and experience the diverse landscape of Utah over the course of weeks to months. The hope is that such a retreat would help encourage works that inspire people to care for and conserve Utah’s wild spaces for generations to come.
